Most temporary heating jobs have one goal: get warm air into a cold space. This one, exhibition heating for a Manchester venue that was also hosting a children’s event, had three.
Two separate events were running at the same time in a well-known Manchester event space. One was a child-focused event. The other was a high-profile art exhibition. Both needed a warm, comfortable room, and neither could have a heater sitting in the middle of it.
The Andrews Heat For Hire team handled event heater hire by using electric heating and bespoke ducting to keep both spaces warm, with the equipment kept well out of the way.

Two Events, Two Eery Different Priorities
Large event spaces are hard to heat evenly: ceilings are high, and a single heater in one corner tends to leave one end of the room too warm and the other too cold. Our enngineers for each event added its own constraint.
For the child-focused event, safety came first. Our customer needed the heating hidden, with ducting secured along the ceiling: nothing hot within reach, no hoses across the floor, and nothing for small hands to pull or small feet to trip over.
For the art exhibition, the issue was how the room looked. The work on display was the whole point, and a heater with exposed ducting in the line of sight would undermine the way the exhibition had been curated. The heating had to keep visitors comfortable without competing with the art.
Both arrangements also had to work side by side, in the same venue, at the same time. That meant two distinct layouts, planned and delivered as one job.

Discreet Exhibition Heating With DE190s And Black Perforated Ducting
Our specialists supplied the DE190 42kW electric heaters, the largest units in our electric heater hire range, for both event spaces. Each was paired with bespoke black perforated ducting.

- Clean, fume-free heat
The DE190 is fully electric, so there is no combustion, no fumes and no fuel stored on site. That matters in a space full of children and next to valuable artwork, and it is why electric heaters are often the better fit for exhibition heating in enclosed venues. An integral thermostat holds the set temperature automatically, so the heaters can run unattended through an event day. - Hands-off control

- Capacity for a large room
With 21kW and 42kW settings, a maximum airflow of 4,500mÂł/h and a rating for spaces up to 1,200mÂł, the DE190 is built for large volumes. - Long duct runs
Ducting of up to 32 metres lets the warm air travel to where it is needed while the equipment stays out of the way. - Perforated ducting for even warmth
Instead of one outlet pushing a jet of hot air into the room, perforated ducting releases warm air gradually along its length, without hot spots or draughts aimed at visitors or exhibits. - Black, and up high
In the child-focused space, the ducting was secured at ceiling level, off the floor and out of reach. In the gallery, the black finish let it blend into the ceiling, so the artwork stayed the focus.

Comfort That Didn’t Take Centre Stage
Both events ran in a warm space, with heat distributed along the ducting rather than concentrated at a single outlet.
| Child-focused event | Art exhibition | |
| Main concern | Safety: nothing hot or loose within reach | Appearance: no equipment in visitors’ sightlines |
| How the ducting was installed | Secured along the ceiling, off the floor | Black finish, blending into the ceiling |
| How the heat was delivered | Even warmth along perforated ducting, no hot spots | Gentle, even airflow with no draughts aimed at exhibits |
| Result | A warm room with no trip hazards or hot surfaces within reach | The exhibition presented as curated, with the heating out of view |
Our engineers met the different priorities of both customers in the same venue, at the same time. Neither customer had to plan their event around the heating. The heating was planned around their events.

FAQs
Electric or indirect-fired heaters: which suits your venue?
Electric heaters suit indoor venues where fumes and fuel storage are a concern. Indirect-fired heaters deliver higher outputs for large marquees and outdoor structures, venting combustion gases outside, as in our London winter event case study. Our specialists can recommend the right option during a site survey.
How far in advance should exhibition heating be booked?
As early as possible for planned events, so there is time for a site survey and to agree the duct route and installation times. For last-minute or emergency needs, our depot network offers a 4-hour rapid response and a 24/7, 365-day service.
Do you offer a site survey before the event?
Yes, free of charge. A heating specialist checks the space, power supply and layout, then recommends the right heaters and duct route for your event.
