Sykes Pumps sponsor Ebbsfleet United in crunch play-off showdown

Having sponsored Ebbsfleet United Football Club for several seasons, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor their final โ€œhomeโ€ match of the domestic season. After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to the National League, Daryl McMahonโ€™s side won 2-1 against Whitehawk in the play-off semi-final first leg.

The reverse fixture on Sunday was played out in front of 1,942 fans at Stonebridge Road, with the Fleet requiring only a draw in order to reach the final. However, the visitors led 2-1 after 90 minutes of edge-of-the-seat action which ultimately preceded a tense but scoreless period of extra-time. Fortunately, the Ebbsfleet players kept their nerve best in the ensuing shoot-out which now sets up an intriguing all-Kent final against Maidstone United.

Goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore was chosen man of the match after 90 minutes before going on to make two crucial penalty saves in a dramatic finale.

From an entertainment perspective, we at Sykes Pumps could not have selected a better game to be official match sponsors. Weโ€™d also like to take this opportunity to wish the club all the best in their quest for promotion, with the final taking place on Saturday, May 14th.
