A Bespoke Wedding Air Conditioning System
Following a detailed site survey, the team designed a system built entirely around what the venue actually needed, rather than a generic off-the-shelf package. The final setup for this marquee air conditioning hire project comprised:
- 6 × 30kW Air Handling Units (AHUs), positioned to deliver even, consistent airflow across the glazed structure
- 1 × 160kW Chiller supplying the cooling capacity to feed the AHU network
- An on-site engineer throughout the event, monitoring and adjusting conditions in real time
Air handling units and chillers work together as a pair: the chiller generates chilled water, and the air handling units circulate that cooling through the venue as conditioned air. It’s the same combination used to control temperatures in far larger commercial spaces, scaled and positioned specifically for this event.
How Chiller and AHU Systems Work Together
This pairing gave the team everything a wedding like this actually needed:
- Enough cooling power for a genuinely large event space
- Even airflow across the whole marquee, not just the areas nearest the units
- Freedom to position units wherever they’d be least intrusive
- A finish that could be disguised properly, not just tolerated
- The ability to adjust cooling in real time as the day changed

The detail that mattered most to the client, though, was disguise. Each air handling unit was wrapped in black vinyl to match the venue’s colour scheme. What would normally look like a bulky, clinical white box instead melted into the background of the room. It’s a small production touch.
