Tank Drying

Andrews Sykes are often called upon by oil and chemical companies to assist when storage tanks need to be kept warm and dry during repainting or when new protective coatings are applied. Such tanks are located within oil refineries, chemical works, tank farms or located on ships and tankers.

When tanks need to be recoated or painted, the existing coating is usually removed by a shot blasting process, which takes the tank back to bare metal. During this period it is essential that the tank is kept warm and dry, otherwise corrosion could occur within hours. If rust appears on the surface to be coated the whole process could be ruined costing thousands of pounds and lengthy delays.

Our range of indirect fired heaters, electric heaters and desiccant dehumidifiers provide the ideal solution, by using heaters in tandem with a dehumidifier we will keep the tank warm and dry during the recoating process, avoiding any issues that could be caused by corrosion. We have many year experience in dealing with such applications and regularly provide the necessary expertise and knowledge to help assist during this complicated process.

We offer free site surveys to our clients, where our specialist technicians will visit your location and ascertain the best course of act for you. This enables us to provide the most cost-effective package possible while guaranteeing an applicable solution to all your drying issues.

Keeping Products Warm

Some processes require products and materials to be kept warm, this can be for a variety of reason, some oil based products need to be heated so that the viscosity is such that it allows the products to flow smoothly, as these products become cold the viscosity will increase causing production to slow down and even cause blockages and downtime. Although these processes tend to have permanent heating provided or fitted with steam jackets, these permanent systems can fail or need to be closed down for maintenance, this is where Andrews can help by providing a temporary solution and kept your product flowing smoothly.

Our range of portable indirect fired and electric heaters can be used in a variety of industrial applications to protect product and prevent valuable products from being damaged by frost and low temperatures. We provide safe efficient heaters for long term or short term hire, these are available for planned maintenance or emergency situations where our 24/7/365 service can come to the rescue. With 30 depots located throughout the UK no other hire company can provide such a high level of specialist heating expertise.
