Worldwide locations When a local authority in Hampshire faced the prospect of a major leisure centre development being delayed, a solution was required immediately to ensure the project was completed on time.
The construction company responsible for the scheme has worked on countless high-profile builds including the London Aquatic Centre used during the 2012 Olympics, and they were desperate to avoid any setbacks here. Local councillors had stressed that people in the community were expecting the leisure centre to open on a specified date, but doubt had been cast over the likelihood of this due to the deferral of flooring being laid.
The contractor required a temporary boiler hire to assist with the drying of screed in two separate areas. Having used our equipment on previous occasions, they sought out the expertise of Andrews Boilers and asked us to provide kit as quickly as possible.
After preliminary discussions, a technical expert was sent to site to ascertain the requirement and devise an appropriate course of action. This preceded the installation of a 100kW packaged boiler which would provide the required heating duty for this application.
The boiler was installed external to the centre and accompanied by a 250-litre buffer tank to secure the flow of hot water. An additional 240V booster pump was installed to increase the pump capabilities of the boiler, with the configuration enhanced by the use of two 65mm Camlock hoses. These were manifolded to accommodate the two separate areas requiring monitored screed drying and underlined our ability to propose a flexible solution for a bespoke purpose.
Despite seasonal weather contriving to cause further difficulties, our boiler hire arrangement was extremely effective and did exactly what was required. The leisure centre is now expected to open on the scheduled date, which seemed extremely unlikely before Christmas!
