The aim of our learning and development plan is to look at how we develop our workforce’s capabilities, skills and competencies in order to nurture talent within our business. It is an important part of our overall business strategy and policies.
Skill Development & Training
A key element of our learning and development strategy is to target the long-term development of all our employees, which is why our Learning and Development Department is working closely with key stakeholders within the business in order to progress this.
We actively encourage employees to seek training courses that will not only enhance their ability to undertake their current role but also put them in a stronger position to acquire greater responsibilities in the future.
By understanding that people learn in different ways, we will tailor an educational environment to ensure the potential for absorbing information is maximised.
An annual Performance Development Plan (PDP) meeting with an employee’s line manager helps all parties identify strengths and areas for development and to devise a strategy that allows a person to boost their skill set going forward.
The availability of both internal training courses and those operated by specialist third parties gives employees a fantastic platform to enhance their development and pursue progression both within their current field and elsewhere within the company.
Examples of Our Training Include:
- Inductions – no matter what your role, we’ll ensure you are welcomed to the business and given a detailed overview of everything relating to your employment at Andrews Sykes.
- Internal courses – our HVAC and pumps training courses have been adapted to give you a better understanding of our products, how they work and the applications in which they might be used.
- Apprenticeship schemes – we’re well-known for the frequency with which we employ apprentices and have seen many examples of individuals joining the company in their teens and working their way up to senior roles.
- Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) – by upholding standards of excellence, we ensure that our engineers are appropriately qualified to carry out work both at our depots and on customer sites.
- External training courses – whether our employees are looking for Microsoft Excel refresher training or an all-encompassing week-long programme to improve their content writing, we have a proven track record of facilitating this.
