As a company that has actively acknowledged the importance of sustainability for many years, we are constantly striving to cut our carbon footprint wherever possible.
It therefore gives us great pride to see that our efforts have been recognised by the Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme (CEMARS) following a recent audit. For the past seven years, CEMARS assessors have visited our Birmingham office and examined utility bills, staff travel, fuel usage and other factors that contribute towards the production of greenhouse emissions.
The 2019 review successfully demonstrated that Andrews Sykes Hire Ltd and Andrews Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Ltd continue to uphold high environmental standards, with an 8.17% carbon footprint reduction since 2013.
This figure underlines the progress we have made and means that we are well on the way to exceeding our target of a 10% drop by the end of 2023.
The procurements of more fuel-efficient vehicles has played a significant part in our achievements, supported by several other company initiatives aimed at increasing ecological compliance. Heating costs have also been reduced via the installation of reverse cycle heat pumps, conserving energy by using the refrigerant system to reclaim heat.
We are proud of the changes and improvements that have been made to date but remain committed to ensuring further advancements in both the short and long-term.
