Air Conditioning Services

High efficiency air conditioning technology installed at The Valley

As part of Charlton Athletic’s plan to improve the stadium, a huge investment has been made in a state-of-the-art air conditioning system designed to instil unprecedented levels of economical cooling inside the West Stand’s hospitality and dining areas. The upgrade was completed ahead of the new season and offers environmentally-friendly comfort cooling at significantly reduced operating costs.

Our engineers liaised directly with the client’s advisors to ensure the requirements of various applications were considered and then accommodated. This constructive consultation phase allowed the suitability of a variety of modern air conditioning systems to be analysed, before the most appropriate solution was put forward.

UK braced for looming heatwave

Met Office officials have issued an urgent heatwave warning as we approach the weekend, with Britons being advised to stay indoors wherever possible. A level 2 heat-health alert has subsequently been declared with temperatures exceeding 30°C in London and East Anglia – hotter than Hawaii and the Bahamas!

Unsurprisingly, there is widespread coverage of the imminent warm weather, with the Daily Mail reporting that ‘it will be the first official heatwave in a year’.

Look out for us tomorrow at Liverpool Street railway station, where we will be handing out another consignment of free fans to commuters and tourists in the area. We have been helping Londoners battle the recent climatic upturn and will distribute more promotional fans at other locations in the future.

UPS room in the Shard needs cooling

An international broadcaster headquartered in the Middle East needed the intervention of Andrews Sykes before moving into new offices in London. The Shard – Europe’s tallest freestanding building – was their location of choice, but an overheating issue threatened to obstruct the moving in process.

The main UPS switch room – which provides the company with a back-up power supply – was getting too hot, and this problem had to be addressed before occupancy could begin. We provided the client with a PAC 60 portable air conditioner complete with heat exchanger and accessories, to reduce the internal temperature.  By removing warm air from the vicinity, we prevented critical materials and equipment from being exposed to dangerous amounts of heat.

A major facilities management company that provide services for leading banks and government buildings urgently required Andrews Air Conditioning Hire due to a problem at a large server room, located in central London.

The client needed to turn off their chilled water system, so that the pipework could be drained in order to replace a faulty valve. Due to the sensitive nature of the server room and the risk of overheating, temporary air conditioning needed to be installed to counter the loss of cooled air from the fixed chilled water system

New Charlton ‘Away’ Kit Launched

Andrews Sykes welcomes CAFC to our Charlton Depot

A delegation of players, backroom staff and club officers were welcomed to Andrews Sykes’ Charlton Hub, one of the busiest in the nationwide network of Climate Control and Pump Hire facilities

Yann Kermorgant and Johnnie Jackson represented the players and were kind enough to don the striking black and white kit for photo opportunities with the Andrews Sykes team. They had a tour of the facilities and met many of the staff and answered questions and signed autographs – many of those who work at Andrews Sykes are long standing Charlton fans so this was a real treat. Maybe for the players a short break after hard pre-season training was also a welcome change of pace as well, but both looked in good condition and are clearly raring to go for the new season

RICS provide guidance on enhancing facilities managers’ effectiveness

Andrews Sykes – Working to enhance FM

Facilities Managers and Facilities Management partners are often central to our work with customers. However facilities management itself is often overlooked as an important part of everyday business processes.

Facilities management has not historically been at the centre of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) attention. However, after detailing that not enough of facilities managers’ time is spent on strategy (planning) compared to reacting, RICS recently published guidance on how facilities managers can enhance organisational performance. They championed the “strong working relationship” between real estate and facilities management, with the aim to maximise efficiency and effectiveness.
