Should I buy or hire an air conditioner?

In many instances, our customers are unsure whether to hire air conditioning units on a temporary basis or purchase them outright. Naturally, this decision depends on a number of factors including your budget, type of requirement, winter storage room, your maintenance and safety testing capability along with many others. In order to arrive at the correct decision for your particular business, it is best to consider these variables individually and analyse how they apply to your operation.

Benefits of Hire

No capital outlay

Budget restrictions may often prevent you from buying high value assets because it does not represent a frugal use of scarce capital finance. Renting instead affords our customers greater flexibility and means that cooling apparatus can be off-hired quickly if seasonal heat begins to wear off. By avoiding capital expenditure, you can also circumvent an often arduous and lengthy authorisation process.

Maintenance and Testing

With hire units we will take care of the maintenance of the units for you. We will carry out regular servicing and ensure that the filters are cleaned, to provide a healthy atmosphere. We also take care of the Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) with every unit fully electrically tested before they are delivered, with test records kept on file and with the unit. If requested we will also carry out on site further periodic PAT tests of the hired as they are required, free of charge.

24/7 support

If a mechanical breakdown occurs we will attend site within 4 hours of your call and either fix the problem or if necessary, replace the unit without any additional charge to the hirer.

Storage not required

Once units have been purchased, it is the responsibility of the consumer to source appropriate storage for when they are not in use. A lack of space available often makes this difficult however, which is why hires are preferential in these circumstances.

Damage waiver

As part of our hire contract we can offer a damage waiver, which means that for a small extra weekly charge the unit is covered for a number of accidental damage circumstances.

Upgrade

If your cooling requirement increases due to extra heat load or an increase in ambient temperature, we can easily upgrade your unit for a larger model.

Tax benefits

Unlike with the price of capital goods, hire costs are tax deductible. This fact negates any protracted negotiations with accountants or finance officers regarding depreciation, disposal and other potential considerations.

Latest technology

As a company, we pride ourselves on continually expanding our hire fleet to ensure clients benefit from the most up-to-date innovations available. This ensures that we always have market-leading products at the time of your requirement.

Benefits of Purchase

Long term cost of unit

If you have a long term requirement for a portable air conditioner, which is likely to extend for more than 12 months, it may be cheaper to buy a unit. However within your cost comparison you should consider the hidden costs of maintenance, testing, repair, storage and eventual replacement when the unit needs to be updated.

Warranty

Our units are sold with a 12 month warranty which covers parts and labour if the unit fails due to mechanical failure during normal use. However any damage caused by misuse or lack of maintenance is not covered.
