When our customers site required comprehensive drainage maintenance, they turned to Sykes Pumps for a reliable and efficient solution. The project involved providing temporary overpumping for various areas of the site, including loading bays, while discharging to the on-site water treatment plant.

Our engineers swiftly responded with a tailored approach, deploying four 6″ Super Wispa pumps equipped with deep sea panels and float switches. These fully automatic, self-priming pumps were strategically installed, with their start/stop operation controlled via float switch operation. To facilitate the operation, we provided five road ramps, suction hoses and strainers, and over 100 lengths of 6″ discharge pipework, including bends and fittings.

The challenge

The customer required a reliable and efficient dewatering solution to clear standing water from their site and redirect it to the main drain off-site. This was crucial to ensure a safe and productive working environment for their team.

Our solution

To meet the company’s needs, we supplied two Super Wispaset 100 pumps, complete with two 1000-liter external fuel tanks. Our experienced team conducted a thorough pre-delivery inspection at our Doncaster depot, ensuring the pumps were in optimal condition before deployment. On the day of installation, our expert technician was on-site to position the pumps strategically and connect the fuel lines from the external tanks to the pumps. This seamless installation process ensured that the dewatering operation could commence without delay.

A long-time client contacted Sykes Pumps recently regarding rising water levels at their lake in South East London. After periods of heavy rain, groundwater had infiltrated the lake and threatened to cause it to overflow. Having worked with this customer before, our team conducted an updated site survey to ensure no changes would impact the potential pump installation.

Within a week of the initial inquiry, we recommended and delivered a UVO 150/100 Super Wispa pump set, along with the necessary flanged piping, fuel tank, and flow meter. The quiet operation of the pump was critical due to the nearby residential area and nature reserve. The unit needed to run continuously, 24/7, to pump the water through the existing 2.5 km pipeline to the River Thames.
