Andrews Air Conditioning keep GB Rowing Team cool during World Championship preparation

As Official Suppliers to British Rowing, Andrews Air Conditioning has been providing the GB Rowing Team with temporary climate control solutions since 2014.

This summer, athletes from the women’s squad have reaped the benefits of our services and been kept cool throughout a gruelling training regime at their base in southern France.

The World Rowing Championships take place in Bulgaria next month and both the women’s and men’s squads are entirely focused on the sport’s biggest event this calendar year.

GB Rowing Team leave Amsterdam with impressive 13-medal haul

Two weeks ago, the national press were lauding the performance of Great Britain’s Olympic rowers following their heroics in Rio. But before the closing ceremony in Brazil could even begin, a 113-person squad was already preparing for their next challenge – the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The 46th edition of the annual week-long regatta began on August 21, with the senior programme held at the same time as the World Rowing Junior Championships and World Rowing U23 Championships.

GB Rowing Team top Olympic medals table

On Sunday 21st August, the curtain came down on what Team GB will have every right to regard as an extremely successful Olympic Games in Rio. A total of 67 medals – including 27 golds – prompted UK Sport chief executive Liz Nicholl to declare Great Britain “one of the superpowers of Olympic sport.”

Athletes from these shores won gold medals across more sports than any other country (15), excelling at rowing once again. The GB Rowing Team topped the medal chart in their field, securing more golds (3) and more medals in total (5) than any other participating nation.

Olympic hopeful pays homage to Andrews Air Conditioning before intense training camp

Towards the end of June, Andrews Air Conditioning announced that, once again, we would be linking up with the GB Rowing Team ahead of their trip to Brazil later this summer.

By providing the team with around 20 Polar Wind Plus portable units, we were able to ensure each athlete remained cool during a vital phase of preparation overseas. Prior to leaving the country for their German training camp, Welsh rower Chris Bartley documented his experiences and thoughts ahead of an action-packed workout:

“Two weeks ago at the GB Rowing Team training base in Caversham we packed up our boats, rowing machines, and gym equipment to be transferred by road to our final summer training camps before Rio 2016. We travel out for up to three weeks, escaping the distraction of our home lives to focus on training hard, rowing fast, eating and sleeping.

The Rowing World Championships in Holland are now nearly upon us, with the GB Rowing Team currently preparing themselves for what is traditionally a demanding training camp at their usual quarters in Breisach, Germany.

Boasting Europe’s best facilities, the town offers athletes an ideal platform for physical activity and planning ahead of what is widely regarded the biggest event in the rowing calendar. This year’s World Championships will be held between the 21 and 28 of August at the Willem-Alexanderbaan in Rotterdam.

With summer in full swing and the rowing World Championships now just around the corner, the GB Rowing Team are set for another gruelling training camp at their usual base in Breisach, Germany.

Boasting the best facilities available in Europe, the region affords competitors the best possible preparation ahead of what promises to be a huge week in the sport. This year’s World Championships – held in Aiguebelette, France – is even more eagerly anticipated because it doubles as the Olympics’ qualifying regatta for the Games held in Rio 2016.
