School back in session thanks to boiler hire from Andrews Sykes

Our schools lie at the very centre of our local communities, providing vital education and childcare which allows working parents to earn a living. This was put in jeopardy when recent heavy rain forced a primary school to close after its plant room flooded.

The school’s basement plant room had filled with 1.5 metres of water, submerging the boiler plant and other critical infrastructure like lighting and power systems. With no functional boilers, the school had no heating, hot water, or lighting – making it impossible to open safely to students.

Prior to welcoming students back to campus, a leading international university in Wales undertook a number of routine maintenance procedures to ensure the premises was ready for the new semester. While carrying out this process, a scheduled plant assessment uncovered that one boiler unit was condemned and another very close to breaking down.

Fortunately, the issue was detected early enough to avoid any potential boiler-related emergency shutdowns and allow replacement equipment to be sourced and installed while the faulty units were repaired.
