Ingram makes FIA World Rally Championship debut in Turkey

September is shaking up to be a huge month for ERC title holder Chris Ingram, starting with a landmark rally in Turkey this weekend. The 24-year-old is making his World Rally Championship debut in Marmaris, with this development perhaps indicative of the amazing progress made during a career still very much in its infancy.

Acknowledging the magnitude of the task ahead, Chris said: “I’m fully focused on our WRC2 debut. It’s a huge challenge ahead, competing on these brutal stages for only our 2nd gravel rally in the Toksport Skoda R5 – but what an opportunity!”

Ingram overcomes tricky first day to seals bronze at Barum Czech Rally

The August bank holiday weekend was one of great significance for Chris Ingram, who confirmed his upcoming World Rally Championship debut following a successful drive in the Czech Republic.

Seemingly out of contention by Saturday evening, Chris found another gear and threw caution to the wind during the final stages of the Barum Czech Rally Zlin to salvage third place in impressive fashion.

That success means the Heat for Hire-backed man has recorded podium finishes in each of his three completed ERC Junior U28 rallies – leaving him second overall as things stand.

Ingram looking to strike gold at Barum Czech Rally this weekend

This year has arguably been the most challenging of Chris Ingram’s career so far, but that hasn’t stopped the European Rally Champion from making his mark on the continent yet again.

Despite a debilitating illness forcing early retirement in Gran Canarias, the 24-year-old still sits in second place in the ERC Junior U28 rankings with three more rallies to come.

The first of these – the Barum Czech Rally Zlin – takes place this weekend and gives Chris the perfect opportunity to make up some ground on current leader Fabian Kreim.

Andrews Heat for Hire wish Chris Ingram well following Rally Islas Canarias withdrawal

We’d like to offer Chris our best wishes after he was forced to pull out of last weekend’s rally because of illness.

Chris and co-driver Ross Whittock took the difficult step of retiring from the race on Friday, citing medical reasons.

Unfortunately, Chris had been struggling with sickness in the days leading up to Rally Islas Canarias but still took the brave step of trying to compete despite the magnitude of the task ahead.

We’re very proud to be sponsoring Chris in his debut 4WD season and sincerely hope his recovery goes smoothly over the next few days.

The double European champion shared a video of a slight mishap that occurred while testing earlier in the week, with cold tyres causing problems for Chris and two other drivers on the circuit.
