Boiler Sector – Hospitals and Healthcare

Emergency boiler hire provides safe showering facilities at Nightingale hospital

Before the former Manchester Central railway station could open its doors as a functioning temporary field hospital, a solution was required to ensure that shower areas were ready for staff to use. The multi-purpose G-MEX convention complex was quickly converted into a 650-bed medical facility following various interior modifications that were essential in order for this to happen.

Prior to the hospital admitting its first patient, healthcare authorities stressed the importance of nurses, doctors and other professionals having constant access to a safe environment to wash. Our client was keen to find a reliable source of hot water to supply a 60-shower block, which could be operational within a short space of time. They called on us to provide a solution without disturbing contractors overseeing other parts of the fit-out.

Lincolnshire hospital kept operational thanks to Andrews’ boiler hire

As far as hospitals are concerned, there is no ideal opportunity or timeframe in which to carry out HVAC maintenance or similar. A boiler breaking down unexpectedly is therefore extremely unwelcome but when these things do happen, it’s important that you seek assistance from experts capable of overseeing this necessary transition.

This was the precise scenario a well-known Lincolnshire hospital found themselves in when their boiler arrangement required upgrading. A supplementary system was required to be in place between the original kit being taken offline and replaced, with the client estimating this could take up to 12 weeks.

Andrews Boilers provide tailored heating hire solution for medicine society

By understanding the implications of heating failure and the implications it might have on a corporate event, Andrews Boilers are determined to move quickly and restore this vital provision to ensure the reputation of our customer is never tarnished.

So when one of the country’s senior medical education bodies suffered a complete breakdown in the build-up to their biggest event, Andrews Boilers were called in at short notice and asked to provide a suitable boiler hire solution.

The lack of available space made it difficult for us to deliver and install a 100kW boiler. However, our experts were able to recommend the use of five 22kW temporary electric boilers, which could be fitted discreetly out of hours and ensure our client still had the required heating and hot water capacities.

Andrews Boilers keep healthcare residential unit functional during refurbishment project

The largest healthcare service in England had plans of undergoing an extensive extension and refurbishment project. However, before this could take place, a temporary boiler was required to provide the residential unit with constant heating while the boiler house underwent a re-fit.

Following an urgent call out, an Andrews engineer visited the location and recommended a 250kW boiler hire unit complete with temporary pipe work.

Logistical problems and a lack of space on the active site made it infeasible to station the temporary boiler near the existing boiler house. Our solution was to position the boiler a short distance away, providing the client with additional hose runs to connect to the existing flow and return stabbings.

Major Amsterdam hospital reopens after catastrophic flood

In late September 2015, former Dutch politician Wouter Bos officially reopened one of Amsterdam’s principal hospitals which had been devastated by flooding earlier in the month.  The rupturing of a high pressure water main close to the facility had necessitated its immediate closure, and this led to a total of 339 patients having to be relocated.

With a quick response essential and medical operations now at a standstill, Andrews Boilers were contacted to restore heating and hot water supplies as swiftly as possible. A pressing need for temporary installations was brought about by all on-site electrical equipment being deemed unsafe for use.

Andrews provide temporary boiler for Public Services

Mechanical engineers at local council in Yorkshire need to replace all ageing and coal fired boilers in public buildings, while safeguarding hot water and heating. Ensuring these services are maintained while removing the source of heat can cause difficulties.

Andrews Boiler Hire was called in to provide a solution that could be used in this project, initially providing heat and hot water for a care home. A 100kW boiler supplied via a temporary bypass system allowed existing fixed boilers to be replaced without interfering with services within the building. Equipment was delivered and installed at times convenient, so as not to disturb patients and residents and to minimalise disruption.
