Boiler Sector – Emergency Boilers

Historic bathroom retailer requires urgent boiler replacement

When one of the UK’s oldest bath manufacturers underwent a major site revamp, a serious construction error left premises without hot water and heating. It was intended for parts of the factory deemed surplus to requirements to be carefully demolished, but workmen on the site inadvertently cut through a gas main while carrying out this process.

Although our client was downsizing on a fairly significant scale, there were still several people based in the building who were dependent on this basic facility being provided. At this juncture, Andrews Boilers were contacted with a solution desired as quickly as one could feasibly be installed.

Andrews Boilers ensure prisoner relocation effort is avoided

As with all forms of temporary accommodation, prison cells are subjected to stringent health and safety regulations with direct repercussions if anticipated standards are not maintained. Legislation set out by the Prison Service Instruction sets out the required arrangements for this particular field and this helps ensure living conditions are scrutinised to a certain degree.

These minimum expectations unsurprisingly extend to the provision of hot water and heating which, if absent, can cause the obligatory relocation of however many inmates are housed in a particular facility.

Brewery kept operational after heat exchanger failure

Breweries and other beverage manufacturers are dependent on working boilers generating steam, because of its efficiency in carrying large quantities of heat. So when the supply is affected, or even cut off completely, an alternative is normally urgently required to ensure output targets are met as per the norm.

One of our clients in the industry was recently faced with the prospect of reduced production, following the failure of their heat exchangers. As one of the most prominent brewery groups in the world, it was imperative that we quickly installed a temporary solution to guarantee high levels of demand were satisfied.

Heat supply for Country House

Asbestos was extensively used as a building material in the UK from the 1950s through to the mid 1980s. It was used for a variety of purposes and was ideal for fireproofing and insulation. When these fibres are inhaled they can cause serious health issues.

A Building service company contacted Andrews Boiler Hire due to an urgent request of a trailer mounted boiler, needed to replace at a Country House in Dundee. The existing boiler house had traces of asbestos therefore it was decomissioned and unable to enter. Andrews Boiler Hire recomended a 250 kW boiler unit as it only required a single phase supply. The 250kW site container Boiler, provides a fast and effective solution to a wide range of applications requiring heat and hot water.  We surveyed the site for a suitable location, due to the narrow lane, space was limited therefore a near HIAB craned vehicle was required to deliver the boiler unit and the temporary fuel tank.

Temporary boiler hire for TV headquarters

A multi-national television company in London was almost unable to broadcast to its 10 million viewers when their power supply waned; the facility itself produces its own power on site. In order to carry out emergency repairs the power source was shut down, which would have resulted in the entire location being without heating and hot water. The global broadcaster was faced with some knock-on effects of this maintenance which would have had severe implications on its ability to air.

An Andrews Boilers Hire engineer arrived on the scene within two hours of the initial problem arising. After surveying the installation he arranged for a temporary 250kW mobile boiler to be delivered and installed with the minimum of disruption. We even arranged a fuel management service to ensure that the boiler had adequate fuel to run unattended, thus affording the customer peace of mind.
