Drying out damp: Andrews Sykes keeps housing project on track

Local borough councils have an important task to continuously build new homes and housing blocks for their residents. But with most construction projects, there are unexpected issues and hiccups along the way.

Our most recent job was from a local council based in a borough outside of London. They reported to our sales engineer that they had issues with a leaking roof which caused flooding and dampness in the building when it rained the day before.

After giving an extensive site survey, it was suggested to use emergency heating and ventilation to dry out the damp space so that the construction workers could continue on time.

Our latest HS2 Viaduct ventilation project

The deafening sound of jackhammers and welding torches echo through the dimly lit tunnel below the Colne Valley Viaduct, which stretches for approximately two miles between Hillingdon and the M25. Sparks fly as construction crews work tirelessly on the generational HS2 project that will soon connect London to Birmingham.

Our team has been brought in for a critical mission – to provide proper ventilation that will keep hundreds of site workers breathing easy. Four of our high-capacity FV1800 units were rushed to the site on Monday, with their adjustable airflows and amperage rendering them perfect for this particular purpose.

Dust troubles resolved thanks to Andrews Ventilation

A disused building site faced significant challenges during roof and floor replacements due to dust accumulation, hampering the progress of demolition and refurbishment. Recognising the urgent need for dust control, the project team turned to Andrews Ventilation for a comprehensive solution.

The challenge

The building presented a unique set of challenges – but nothing we couldn’t address! The presence of dust was a major concern, and this was heightened by the nature of the works being carried out and the affluent residential area in close proximity. Contaminating the surroundings was not an option, and it was crucial to meet both project requirements and strict site regulations.

The solution

Andrews Ventilation responded promptly by conducting a free site survey. Our experts provided recommendations and specification sheets detailing the appropriate equipment needed for the task at hand.

These pollutants can have adverse effects on our respiratory system and overall well-being. To combat this issue, Andrews Sykes offers a range of air purification systems, including air cleaners, air purifiers, and ventilation fans.

Metal manufacturer protects steel consignment and saves money in the process!

There is no better indicator of our excellent customer service than yielding repeat customers. As a basic principle, we always aim to stand out from the competition and add value to a project each time we visit a site.

Earlier this month, our experts were approached by one of the UK’s largest steel producers – as has been the case for most of the last decade!

The change in weather meant that moisture levels had risen above the safe range of between 35-55%, drastically increasing the risk of corrosion and metal oxidation. With hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of steel exposed to high levels of moisture, a dedicated solution was required to preserve our client’s assets.

Andrews devises air quality solution for hotel’s communal areas

The very premise of a hotel is to cater for the comfort of your guests, which poses the question: why is air quality so widely overlooked in the hospitality industry? Facility managers play a vital role in delivering the exceptional experience a hotel promises to offer, and this includes ensuring that the building itself is operating at peak levels.

A common misconception is that air quality can be managed effectively by controlling the temperature and humidity. And although these aspects of climate control should always be taken into account, they will not address the presence of harmful contaminants that may be airborne inside your hotel.
