air conditioning for hospitals

Our cooling solutions safeguard healthcare samples

The summer has been busy for Andrews Air Conditioning. Despite the peak in demand, our engineers ensure that every job that we complete shows our commitment to delivering effective cooling solutions and their ability to provide outstanding service to their customers.

Recently, we faced a significant challenge of carrying out construction work in a clinical department of a hospital. The construction work resulted in a lot of dust particles in the air, and this became a risk to the vital samples. To prevent any dust from entering the fridges, the customer had to surround them with sheeting. However, this precautionary measure inadvertently caused the fridges to become hotter than normal.

Tailored air conditioning solution during the peak of summer? No problem!

The healthcare industry has always been a key market sector for us, due in no small part to the fact that our excellent service lends itself to the needs of critical applications that demand swift action. That’s something we can and do provide regularly, which is why we have established a reputation for speed and reliability.

Not every project we work on involves dozens of units and multiple delivery drivers, however, naturally, we take every requirement seriously.

In the aftermath of the recent record-breaking spell, we received a cooling enquiry from a suburban health centre. Our client was conscious that although temperatures were not as high as they previously had been, the potential for another heatwave meant that pre-emptive action should be taken.Following a discussion with the site’s facilities manager, it was decided that a combination of Polar Wind, Polar Breeze and Double Cool units would be necessary to cool all parts of the building. The Double Cools were deployed in a clinical room which had no windows or openings, while the two air conditioning models were stationed inside the waiting area and reception.

Cancer screening stays on track thanks to hired cooling solution

When someone is preparing to undergo a potentially stressful examination, the least a hospital and its staff can do is help maximise patient comfort by any means possible. In some cases, this could be explaining the procedure or providing an isolated area for a greater degree of privacy. On other occasions, a little more is needed.

In the build-up to summer, Andrews Air Conditioning was approached by a teaching medical centre in Yorkshire after a very specific requirement surfaced. Three dedicated breast screening units were becoming too warm for both patients and doctors, and this was thought to be predominantly caused by mammogram machines being constantly in use.

Hospital requests seasonal cooling hire for patient wards

During the build-up to summer, Andrews Air Conditioning was approached by a prominent South Coast hospital seeking temporary comfort cooling across multiple wards. The client had been reassured by our COVID-19 precautions and was keen to select a supplier committed to health and safety best practice. Our sanitisation and sterilisation procedures and use of PPE on site were specifically cited as being among the reasons they opted for us.

Having hired air conditioning units to this hospital in each of the previous four summers, we were familiar with their requirement and what it was they needed. Their preference, as always, was to deploy several individual units within each ward to provide comfort cooling for both patients and staff.

Bespoke air conditioning hire cools hospital during summer

At the beginning of summer, Andrews Air Conditioning was contacted by an NHS Trust searching for seasonal cooling on behalf of a prominent hospital in Hampshire. Our client required a temporary air conditioning hire to be operational for approximately 12 weeks and specified that they would be unable to house any equipment within the buildings themselves, with space also very restricted at ground level.

The customer advised that their existing air handling system was perfectly functional and that, if possible, it was preferred that we provide units that were compatible with this equipment.
