A few weeks ago, the team at Andrews Sykes once again demonstrated our ability to provide exceptional service when faced with a critical situation during the famous Charlie and the Chocolate Factory theatre show.

On a Sunday evening, we received an urgent call from the stage manager, who was concerned about rising temperature levels backstage posing a potential risk to the children performing. The weekend prior, the show had to cancel two performances due to the scorching heat on the stage. It was evident that immediate action was needed to ensure the show could go on. And thanks to us, it did!

In light of it being National Engineers Week, it feels appropriate to highlight one of our engineers and delve into precisely what the job itself entails. That means I’m back with another Day in the Life segment, and this month I shadowed one of our talented Senior Service Engineers – Jason Watson.

As I’m generally office-based, I was excited to observe how the backbone of our business operates, and learn more about how the practical side of things work. As soon as I saw Jason arriving at the Charlton depot car park, I set about capturing potential social media content and documenting our day by taking notes on how a typical morning might unfold.

A well-known retailer was in search of an emergency cooling solution for their flagship store in Oldham following the arrival of some blisteringly hot weather. The client’s retail store was located in an old mill which was devoid of any openings, meaning the shop itself was poorly ventilated and prone to overheating during the summer. Andrews Air Conditioning Hire was recently contacted by one of Glasgow’s leading facilities management companies who required an emergency cooling solution for one of their major clients. The project surfaced following the breakdown of their fixed cooling system, which occurred during the peak of summer and necessitated the urgent provision of replacement equipment.

The facilities manager was tasked with providing cooling equipment for a large commercial building housing up to 100 staff on each floor. An Andrews technician was sent to site to conduct a survey to propose and install a high-volume cooling solution that would successfully reduce temperatures inside the building.
