Sykes Pumps sponsor Ebbsfleet United in crunch play-off showdown

Having sponsored Ebbsfleet United Football Club for several seasons, we were delighted to be given the opportunity to sponsor their final “home” match of the domestic season. After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion to the National League, Daryl McMahon’s side won 2-1 against Whitehawk in the play-off semi-final first leg.

The reverse fixture on Sunday was played out in front of 1,942 fans at Stonebridge Road, with the Fleet requiring only a draw in order to reach the final. However, the visitors led 2-1 after 90 minutes of edge-of-the-seat action which ultimately preceded a tense but scoreless period of extra-time. Fortunately, the Ebbsfleet players kept their nerve best in the ensuing shoot-out which now sets up an intriguing all-Kent final against Maidstone United.

Goalkeeper Nathan Ashmore was chosen man of the match after 90 minutes before going on to make two crucial penalty saves in a dramatic finale.

From an entertainment perspective, we at Sykes Pumps could not have selected a better game to be official match sponsors. We’d also like to take this opportunity to wish the club all the best in their quest for promotion, with the final taking place on Saturday, May 14th.
