Sykes Pumps helps with Hurricane Sandy clear-up in New York

Sykes Pumps, through it’s North American Distributor Ameripumps, helped with the clear up operation in New York following the horrific Hurricane Sandy recently.

As floods remained out of control, Sykes Pumps provided a number of pumps to dewater many of the subways and streets in Midtown, New York. Our pumping specialists were also on hand constantly maintaining the pumps and ensuring an effective and efficient set up.

Nigel Gill, operations support director, Andrews Sykes, said: “Sykes Pumps has assisted with other disaster clean-up operations in the past – particularly floods along the Mississippi river and West Virginia – so we are fairly au fait with the protocol in these slightly unusual and challenging situations. While the urgency and severity of emergencies such as these cannot be overstated, the camaraderie amongst the pump industry and the specialists working on site should be commended.”
