Sykes celebrate 160-year milestone
Sykes Pumps are delighted to have reached another momentous landmark in the company’s longstanding history – our 160th anniversary!
Initially founded as a localised engineering business in 1857, the firm has grown immeasurably over a period of more than a century and a half.
Providing all types of pumping assistance to big customers both in the UK and further afield, we are now recognised as a multi-national organisation with the resources necessary to provide specialist solutions for virtually every conceivable scenario.
From humble London beginnings, Sykes now has localised depots in twenty-four locations throughout the UK, in addition to a very significant presence in the Middle East.
This latest landmark in the company’s history has allowed us to benefit from consistent and rapid growth, with a firmly established reputation for excellence underpinned by values, longevity and heritage.
Chris Graham, Sales Director of Sykes Pumps, said: “It is with great pride that we as an organisation can reflect on 160 years of successful operation. During this time, we have suffered the turbulence of two World Wars and overcome a number of other challenges – so we must be doing something right!
“Of course, we look back on our growth and development with much satisfaction but as always, our immediate focus is on how we can do things better going forward. This outlook is the reason we have managed to stay at the forefront of innovation for so long.
“We would like to thank our committed and loyal workforce for their endeavour, and recognise the impact our staff have had in shaping the business we have today.”
In order to commemorate this momentous date, the company are planning to organise a series of events over the next 12 months. This will include regional activities for all members of staff – details of which will be shared in due course.
Over the next twelve months, Sykes Pumps will be using a special logo to help promote our anniversary and this will appear prominently on any PR and related social media activity. We will be sharing historical content, throwbacks, comparisons and much more on our Twitter page, giving customers and staff a fantastic insight into the company’s past. There is even a dedicated page on our website that collates all anniversary-related information, and this will be updated frequently. To view this, click here.
