Worldwide locations Following prolonged spells of heavy rainfall throughout the last twelve months, 2014 is likely to be remembered as the wettest year on record in the UK. During this time, Sykes Pumps have overseen a number of major projects in order to mollify growing pressure on sewage plants throughout the country.
One of those – located in the South East – required additional pumping on site to cope with swelling day-to-day demands. The client wished to increase the capacity and discharge quality of their facility, and we proposed a suitable hire package following an in-depth site survey.
In total, six 8” super silent diesel pumps, four electric submersible XFP301M units and several HS200 solids-handling diesel pumps were used across the project, helping us to closely replicate our customer’s existing system.
This provisional solution worked perfectly well, despite initial fears that temporary generators and additional fuel could cost the company thousands of pounds. Instead, we managed to negate this by employing diesel driven pumps as the standby equipment while using site electrics to power our submersibles.
