Ingram looking to conquer Gran Canaria following Azores victory

After getting the best possible start to this season’s European Rally Championships last month, current title holder Chris Ingram will be looking to maintain a gap between himself and second place when the Rally Islas Canarias begins on Thursday.

The Brit currently has a 10-point lead over nearest rival Aleks Zawada and is clearly eager for Round 2 to begin, tweeting his followers: “Ready to fly out to Gran Canaria with @EAERallying.”

This particular rally is widely regarded as one of the more challenging on the circuit due to its climb, descent and abrasive surfaces partly comprised of volcanic lava.

Grip levels are generally high and ought to remain as such even in the event of rain, although tyre wear may possibly come into play along the 207.29-kilometre stage distance.

The event concludes at 17:50 local time on Saturday evening, and naturally all of us at Andrews Heat for Hire hope that Chris will be standing on the podium at Parque Santa Catalina.

As always, you can monitor Chris’ progress on the Eurosport channel or by following his Twitter page for evening updates. We wish him the very best of luck!
