Worldwide locations Although the second wave of lockdown restrictions has seen businesses from many industries forced to close, schools, colleges and universities have had to develop and implement various social distancing solutions to ensure they are operating as safely as possible.
Because of this, Andrews Heat for Hire has observed a sharp spike in enquiries as education providers strive to keep newly introduced overflow facilities warm and as COVID-secure as possible.
Given the current climate, our client was delighted that we could offer a heater hire package that not only increases temperatures but also constantly reintroduces fresh, clean air from outside.
Our engineers were called to a private secondary school in Kent, with the client looking for some equipment to heat two separate temporary structures that had been erected to provide additional space and ease the number of people congregating in certain areas.
A large marquee had been assembled adjacent to the main school building with the intention of it being used as a secondary canteen. It was also decided that an extra breakout space was required to prevent the school’s existing common room from becoming too crowded.
For the first application, we provided a single FH111 indirect fired heater and a 2,000-litre fuel tank. Large volumes of warm air were then directed inside the makeshift dining area via a length of ductwork. The dimensions of the second area meant there was a slightly smaller heating requirement, with two ID35 models deployed outside.
Effectively killing two birds with one stone, the heating equipment we provided fulfilled its primary function but also delivered several air changes per hour to drastically reduce the possibility of any airborne viruses being transmitted between pupils and teachers.
