With the rowing World Championships set to dominate the sporting news this week, we at Andrews Air Conditioning will be keeping a keen eye on the GB Rowing Team’s progress following their success in Amsterdam twelve months ago.
This year’s competition, held at Lac d’Aiguebelette in France, kicks off on Sunday 30 August and carries extra significance – doubling as the Olympics’ qualifying regatta for the Games held in Rio next summer.
As usual, our British athletes have spent the weeks prior to the World Championships preparing at their traditional training camp in Breisach, Germany. Unfortunately for those participating in top-level sport, temperatures within the region regularly exceed 30°C during August which can drastically affect recovery times and sleep patterns.
In order to help the group and counteract the problematic conditions every squad member would otherwise have faced, Andrews Air Conditioning provided a number of portable units that were then deployed in all living quarters. The above image shows men’s double scull duo Richard Chambers (left) and Will Fletcher (right) posing alongside one of our Polar Wind plus models, with both rowers clearly grateful to have enjoyed peace and quiet between their gruelling training sessions!
With the provisional hard work done and dusted, all eyes will now turn to the first events in the Rhone-Alpes region of France on Sunday. Once again, we’d like to wish all involved the very best of luck in their respective contests and hope that the GB Rowing Team can go one better on their impressive second-place showing last time out.
