With summer in full swing and the rowing World Championships now just around the corner, the GB Rowing Team are set for another gruelling training camp at their usual base in Breisach, Germany.
Boasting the best facilities available in Europe, the region affords competitors the best possible preparation ahead of what promises to be a huge week in the sport. This year’s World Championships – held in Aiguebelette, France – is even more eagerly anticipated because it doubles as the Olympics’ qualifying regatta for the Games held in Rio 2016.
The corresponding event last summer saw Great Britain secure a total of ten medals (including four gold) – an improvement on their 2013 tally.
It is therefore imperative that the group benefit fully from the training stint in Breisach, and that everything is in place to facilitate recovery and rest times. Breisach, in the Rhine valley, can be super-hot during this time of year and keeping cool during recovery times is very important.
Andrews Air Conditioning are delighted to extend our partnership with the GB Rowing Team, which last year saw us provide a series of portable units for the training camp. This arrangement enabled participants to sleep without any issue and keep them fresh during this camp, described by experts as a “heavy work camp”.
We have once again agreed to supply twenty-five Polar Wind plus air conditioners which were collected directly from our Charlton depot ahead of their 550-mile journey to south-west Germany. Our equipment will remain in place throughout the duration of the training camp, effectively neutralising temperatures that regularly exceed the 30°C mark.
As a company, we’d like to take the opportunity to wish the whole squad good luck for the World Championships. Those interested can follow their progress between 30 August and 6 September, with previous success sure to generate additional support from sports enthusiasts nationwide.
