Case Study
Civil contractor seeks temporary pumping equipment
At Sykes Pumps, we regularly liaise with engineering companies in order to provide the best solution to their clients’ problems. Having worked alongside independent suppliers for several decades, we are able to offer technical advice as well as sophisticated equipment – even for the most challenging projects. So when a haulage and logistics business in Cambridgeshire required pumping assistance, we sent a technician to the premises to ascertain how best to resolve the problem.
The contractor’s client required a large tank to be installed underground, but our engineer was informed during the site survey that possible contamination could be expected once excavation was in process. Silt and solids were both discovered in the groundwater on inspection, so we advised the deployment of a settlement tank.
A Sykes Super Wispa 100 pumpset was subsequently recommended, along with discharge hoses and a 3000 litre settlement tank. Engineers from our Peterborough depot continue to visit the location fortnightly to maintain the equipment and ensure efficient operation. The customer was very happy with the outcome and stressed that Sykes Pumps will now be consulted first when future assignments arise.
