Andrews Heat for Hire team up with CACT to keep vulnerable locals warm

With Christmas almost upon us and seasonal cold weather beginning to set in, now is the time where many people pause to consider the impact winter has on some of the more vulnerable members of society.

That’s why Andrews Heat for Hire are proud to be working alongside the Charlton Athletic Community Trust as part of the Stay Warm Stay Safe campaign – an initiative set up to help residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich and surrounding areas keep warm.

This is a scheme that is very close to our heart, with the majority of employees at our flagship Charlton depot hailing from Greenwich and neighbouring towns.

We’re therefore very pleased to be donating a large number of new oil-filled electric radiators to the campaign’s organisers as a starting point of our involvement.

High efficiency air conditioning technology installed at The Valley

As part of Charlton Athletic’s plan to improve the stadium, a huge investment has been made in a state-of-the-art air conditioning system designed to instil unprecedented levels of economical cooling inside the West Stand’s hospitality and dining areas. The upgrade was completed ahead of the new season and offers environmentally-friendly comfort cooling at significantly reduced operating costs.

Our engineers liaised directly with the client’s advisors to ensure the requirements of various applications were considered and then accommodated. This constructive consultation phase allowed the suitability of a variety of modern air conditioning systems to be analysed, before the most appropriate solution was put forward.

Following last month’s announcement that we would continue as Charlton’s official shirt sponsors, Managing Director Paul Wood and other company employees attended the club’s launch of next season’s away and third kits.

The event – which took place at the Sparrows Lane training ground in New Eltham – saw members of the playing staff don the new strips for the first time in front of local media, competition winners and a small group of fans.

Those lucky enough to be present at the kit unveiling had the opportunity to try their luck from the penalty spot against two of Charlton’s professional goalkeepers. Although only one Andrews Sykes representative ultimately got the job, the afternoon was greatly enjoyed by all involved!

English and Dutch depots play annual fixture at The Valley

The second weekend in May saw Andrews Sykes’ Charlton depot lock horns with our Dutch colleagues in a friendly football match at The Valley. Following last year’s successful encounter against the Netherlands branches of the company, a second clash was set up with our English side looking to avenge a narrow 3-2 defeat.

Flying in from Rotterdam on the morning of the game, the Dutch side (including one Belgian!) held their hosts to a 2-2 draw before eventually triumphing on penalties. The contest was played in good spirit, with all members of both squads enjoying dinner and drinks together post-match.
