Late last year, visitors saw a dream realised, as the doors of ‘Out the Closet 2009’ in Covent Garden’s Flower Cellars flew open, and shoppers had a once-in-a-lifetime chance to get their hands on an exclusive array of Elton John’s and David Furnish’s flamboyant clothing collection, direct from their wardrobes.
From outfits worn by Elton on stage, to David’s favourite Dior shirts, fans had the opportunity to step into their shoes for real, as well as to hand-pick from their finest collection of clothes and accessories, including sunglasses, luggage and belts. Ranging from £10 to £2,000, the stock featured labels such as Versace, Dior, Prada, McQueen, D&G and Jean Paul Gaultier. (all standard wear here at Andrews Sykes!)
When approached by the Foundation, Liam Harrison, one of our National Call Centre team members was delighted to offer a portable heater hire solution. Two radiant heaters were hired at a heavily reduced rate to keep all the generous shoppers warm and toasty while they shopped for their designer bargains.
The event attracted A-list shoppers from Elle Macpherson and Nathalie Imbruglia to Elizabeth Hurley. 100% of proceeds from sales went to support the work of the Elton John AIDS Foundation. By the time the doors were closed, a total of £420,000 was raised for the Foundation.
