Goodbye air conditioning, hello heating, ventilation and drying!

And just like that, a new, colder and wetter season is upon us! As the temperature changes, so, too, do the requirements of our customers. Colder weather also tends to lead to a rise in relative humidity – which is not something you should just accept or ignore!

What’s the answer, then? Well, it depends on the issue!

At this time of year especially, we tend to get a lot of enquiries from clients in the construction sector looking to accelerate the drying of wet trades, painting, and other finishing touches. By November, we’ll also start to receive a lot of requests for heating as a frost protection measure.

Opening of new retirement home looms thanks to Andrews!

It’s that time of year again, and we’ve already had a number of enquiries relating to projects just like this one! Earlier in the month, a building contractor in Kent sought our intervention during the latter stages of a development they were responsible for.

On this occasion, we helped a construction company dry out the interior of a newly-built care home to ensure that painting and floor laying could be efficiently carried out. The recent dampness and drop in temperature had contrived to delay the opening of the facility, and this was simply not conceivable given that vulnerable people were relying on everything going according to plan.

Telecoms client comes back for more after positive first impression!

Like all businesses, we take repeat custom as a good sign – and we’re always delighted when a satisfied client chooses to return to us again when the need dictates.

Back in 2015, we were contacted by a cloud technology service provider after their data centre’s cooling equipment went down unexpectedly. On that occasion, they were looking for some temporary ventilation to operate alongside some of our portable air conditioning units.

With the requirement urgent and the majority of our FV fans on hire at the time, we were able to improvise almost effortlessly to supply four PAC 22 units and an FH185 heater, which was utilised to great effect on the fan-only mode.

Steven celebrates his golden jubilee at Andrews Sykes!

Having an employee celebrate a 50-year work anniversary is fantastic, but having two in the space of two months? That’s almost unheard of!

On the 29th of August 1972, Steven Knight walked into our old depot in Slough as a fresh-faced 15-year-old Trainee Fitter.

Andrews Sykes has been Steven’s home for the last five decades and, perhaps fittingly, it was while working here that he met his wife Alison (pictured together, bottom right) in 1982.Steven is dedicated to his family, including his six children and five grandchildren, and we’ve been very lucky to have benefitted from his strong commitment to our organisation over the past five decades.
