With gyms and sports facilities obliged to undertake a series of updated precautions following the relaxation of blanket lockdown restrictions, operators have been forced to adapt in order to keep their customers safe. A legal requirement to implement one-way systems, introduce frequent cleaning of all machines and apparatus and ensuring that people are more spread out has led to additional space being needed in many instances.

The latest government guidance applies to all venues including those belonging to professional sports teams. In response to the changes, Charlton Athletic Football Club reacted by creating a temporary gym area at their training ground in Eltham.

At Andrews Heat for Hire, we understand the obligation of companies operating in the food industry to keep their guests sufficiently warm throughout the winter season.

So when a famous international restaurant suffered a heating failure at one of their chains in Middlesbrough, our specialists were on hand to provide them with an instant temporary solution.

To ensure the units would be fit for purpose, a member of our contact centre used their sector knowledge to help calculate the volume of the heating duty required. In response, our specialists supplied the client with a number of portable DE25 electric units which they positioned around the dining area as well as the kitchens. This heating rental package remained in place until the fixed system could be repaired.

Andrews provides temporary boiler installation for famous animal rescue centre

One of London’s oldest animal shelters recently required a temporary boiler hire arrangement during a period in which their plant room underwent a much-needed refurbishment. The mechanical and electrical building services company responsible for managing the upgrade was desperate to eliminate the risk of potential downtime and contacted us four weeks before a replacement unit would be needed.

Initially, it was requested that our substitute boiler be craned onto the roof of the building as this was deemed to be the least obtrusive location available. However, restrictions imposed by the network operators of an adjacent railway line meant this would not be possible and that an alternative plan was needed.

In early 2020, Andrews Sykes was contacted by a regional healthcare trust that was looking for some ventilation equipment on behalf of three of their hospitals. Our client was keen to prevent the development of oxygen-rich environments caused by the gas being administered as part of patient therapy.

Newly introduced guidance now recommends minimal oxygen use because the benefits are uncertain, with evidence suggesting there are several potential dangers. On top of this, oxygen enrichment also significantly increases the risk of fires or explosions due to a substantially more intense atmosphere.
