GB Rowing Team men’s eight qualify for Sunday’s final in Amsterdam

With the World Rowing Championships now reaching the latter stages at Bosbaan, we are delighted to see that the GB Team have enjoyed much success over the last few days. After only the second day of competition, Great Britain was already guaranteed three final spots and these early triumphs ultimately set the tone for the races that followed.

All three para-rowing crews won their heats to advance to the final stage, while the lightweight men’s four won their heat in the afternoon session – rounding off a wonderful start for the British squad. And there was more to come, as the men’s eight rounded off an excellent showing on Wednesday by qualifying for Sunday’s showdown.

Tall Ships Regatta sailor raring to go

At Andrews Sykes, we are committed to getting involved in community-based initiatives and have a long track record of supporting local events. The Falmouth to Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta is just the latest example of this, and will be the capital’s largest Tall Ship exhibition for more than 25 years. Our London depot is only a stone’s throw away from the final port along the Thames so we are delighted to help promote the race – as well as sponsor two trainee sailors.

And with the festival in Greenwich now just over a week away, one of the young hopefuls popped into our Charlton depot to discuss his thoughts ahead of the voyage. Dominic Paul, a 17-year-old air cadet currently studying at the University Technical College, was in good spirits ahead of his long coach trip to Falmouth this Saturday.

Prestigious hotel in London seeks replacement air conditioning

At Andrews, we understand that effective climate control is of the utmost importance within the hospitality sector, and that a failure to provide this can severely affect a business’ reputation. So when a highly-regarded hotel in Greenwich required emergency cooling to appease visitors, we had a solution installed within hours of the initial enquiry.

A temporary replacement was needed following chiller failure, but in order to ascertain the best equipment for the application, a technician conducted a free site survey. This enabled us to establish the most appropriate equipment, and it was subsequently decided that eight Polar Wind units would adequately cool the affected areas.

GB Rowing Team sends “thank-you” ahead of World Rowing Championships

Just over a month ago, we announced a partnership with the GB Rowing Team in which we supplied temporary air conditioning units, in a bid to keep their training base cool. The camp – in Breisach, Germany – is renowned for having the best facilities in Europe but in years gone by, the heat has affected athletes’ sleeping patterns.

To counter this, we provided a total of 25 Polar Wind portable units to ensure competitors remained cool throughout the duration of their visit. And with the World Championships set to commence in Amsterdam this Sunday, we received a “thank-you” online postcard from the Rowing Team following a successful period of training.

Andrews provides cooling for offices in Kent

At Andrews Air Conditioning, we understand the detrimental implications an uncomfortable working environment can have on a business’ productivity. So when a client contacted us seeking temporary cooling for their office, we acted quickly to quell the effects of high temperatures and keep employees content.

The complex – based in Rochester, Kent – is a listed building, and as such any solution we deployed would have to avoid having pipes hanging out of windows. With this in mind, we delivered and installed a single Double Cool evaporative unit because of its suitability for applications where outside access is limited. The Double Cool creates a sea-breeze effect and represents an excellent alternative to conventional air conditioning systems.

Staff cooled for snack manufacturer

The manufacturing and industrial sector are one of the hardest sectors to work in when the climate reaches a hot temperature. Staff working on production lines and other machinery are already heated by the electronic equipment, not to mention the scorcher outside. When this occurs productivity is lowered considerably and the working environment becomes stuffy and demotivating. This was the case when a company producing snacks of all sorts was having trouble with their staff’s productivity. They were suffering with a stuffy and airless factory which was affecting motivational and concentration levels of the staff.
