Float Outs The oil and gas industry moves new builds from shipyard to sea using various sized barges, which have deck-mounted diesel pumps for water transfer during load out. A specialist provider safely transfers modules weighing up to 11,000 tonnes from fabrication sheds for delivery onto barges. The pumps used have to be mobilised to predetermined barge plans, weight distribution calculations and tidal impacts at shipyards in the UK and Europe. Sykes GP150M diesel pumps were used for water transfer from chamber to chamber to the predetermined plan, with different numbers of pumps needed on each job. Sykes are regularly engaged to undertake these complex projects because of their experience, expertise and range of equipment available. |
