Tsunami Relief In partnership with a local Round Table organisation, Andrews Sykes donated two GP80 diesel pumps to help support the Asian Tsunami relief effort in Sri Lanka. Our local depot received a call asking if any pumps could be donated to help clear seawater that had contaminated freshwater wells. Very shortly after, two GP80 pumps had been sprayed, tested and delivered to Heathrow Airport to meet the plane for despatch to Sri Lanka. |

Burst Water Pipe A huge water pipe burst brought commuters to a halt recently as piles of debris heaped on a city centre road and people were trapped in cars in floodwater. Sykes were called to site and, arriving within the hour, quickly assembled a diesel pumpset to displace the excess nuisance water. Using one GP80 pumpset together with wire armoured hose, fifty meters of layflat and a drip tray provided an effective solution which was easily operated and effortlessly manoeuvred around the site. The water was soon controlled and the water pipe fixed. This is a true testament to Sykes Pumps readiness for unforeseen emergencies which we are always prepared for and happy to help with. |
