Sykes Pumps at SED 2007Our attendance at SED in our anniversary year was hugely successful and we would like to thank all of you that came to celebrate our “Sesquicentennial” at our champagne lunch.

Andrews Sykes branch out into the USA as Rentacool Andrews Sykes opens its first depot in Miami USA on the 1st June 2007 under a new company name of Rentacool. Anselmo Gill, the General Manager has been project managing the opening with the help from some of our UK based staff. Rentacool will continue the levels of service that are already well established in the UK, in providing Air Conditioning and Chiller Hire to the USA Rentacool are ready to open their doors and start business from the 1st June 2007. The awards are organized by Construction News (supported by the National Specialist Contractors Council together with the Specialist Engineering Contractors Group) and their aim is to highlight the critical role of specialist contractors. Our selected category was ‘Ground Engineering’ and we were delighted to be able to present the trophy to Martin Blower of Expanded Piling Ltd. Dan Brennan the Business Development Manager for Europe along with Frank De Smedt the new Belgian General Manager have been project managing the opening with the help from both UK and Dutch Colleagues.  H&V News Awards for Excellence 2007
Andrews Sykes Hire were delighted to be able to present the trophy to the winner, Edward Fendt of EPS for “their great deal of thought which had been put into EPS’ Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit. There was evidence of good, thorough research, and solid implementation. EPS didn’t just produce the kits, but considered why they were needed and how they could be effective. The judges were impressed with EPS’ answer to how it would capitalise on its success of winning the award. Andrews Sykes has had its own call centre for the last year and customers have been able to hire air conditioning and get friendly advice on there requirements by comingdirect to the call centre where the phone is answered straight away. We were able to cover the whole of the UK and by having our calls come into the Southern and Northern call centre’s customers didn't have to listen to the phone constantly ringing or hear the engaged tone. This enabled us to deliver a better service than we have in the past including same day delivery which was well received by customers especially on those hot days we experienced last summer! Rob is delighted and very excited to be joining Andrews Sykes at such a key time for the development of the Company and will work hard to ensure the contact centre strongly reflects the strategy of the company going forward. Dreams can come true...  We have our own celebrity running to make some dreams come true……… Phil Parker of Sykes Pumps is running the London Marathon on the 22nd April 2007. Phil is running on behalf of the “Dreams come true” charity (reg. 800428)

Their level of knowledge, problem solving ability and service ethic defines the customer experience and thus our ongoing success which enables us to meet our ‘Anytime, Anyplace, Anywhere’ philosophy. Product-wise, we hire AC units from a 2kW portable to 500kW chillers and, on our Heat for Hire side, from 3kW electric heaters to over 1,000,000 btu indirect fired containerised units. Overall, I believe we now have the most modern line up in Europe, with our new Heating products offering low emission and fuel economy, with either 407C or 410 refrigerant options for our cooling equipment. On the boiler side, our hugely successful ‘Mobile Units’ brand has been expanded to provide fully containerised plant rooms or compact units, from 100kW to 500kW, with dual circuits for both heating and hot water.” 2007 is looking even more exciting for the Andrews Sykes Group with plans already well advanced, which include a further £5 million investment in the hire fleet to which 3,000 new AC units have already been added. Also, a new range of Aurora heaters is being launched this December and new boilers will be unveiled at the H&V07 Exhibition. The H&V News Awards for Excellence recognised a group of outstanding initiatives, products, people and companies within the HVAC industry. All those who attended enjoyed a lavish evening at the Grosvenor House in London.

This year, Sykes Pumps celebrates 150 years of providing excellent product and service to the construction industry. One of the ways we decided to celebrate this milestone was by sponsoring an award at the ‘Quality in Construction’ award ceremony 2007. Our selected category was ‘Major Projects’ and we were delighted to be able to present the trophy to the winner,Rolf Kristiansen of Sir Robert McAlpine for their outstanding work on the Emirates Stadium project.
Andrews Sykes welcomes a new Head of Contact Centre Development, Rob Phillips; he will be developing and delivering the service proposition and service experience for customers from the Southern and Northern Contact Centres for Andrews Sykes. Rob arrives with a wealth of operations experience and knowledge having previously managed contact centres for Vodafone and Serco so he brings a great knowledge with him. 
In the seventh season of supporting the Hawk Kawasaki Superbike team Sykes Pumps will be sponsoring the Hawk team bikes for the celebration of their 150yrs this year. One of the bikes that will be racing with the Sykes Pumps brand on will be number 150, a great way to commemorate our 150 years in the Pumping business. We have enjoyed sponsoring the Superbikes and it is a great event for our customers to go to. 
Andrews Sykes congratulates Nick Campey on his 25years service with the company. Nick started with Andrews Sykes in 1982 at the age of 25, he started as a Sales Rep for HVAC in our Manchester Depot, he was then promoted to become a Sales Manager for a period, were he moved on and became the Depot Manager, his vision then grew with his experience and he then became an Area Manager were he stayed for awhile. In 1993 Nick was promoted to become a National Accounts Manager and has been in that position for the last 15 years.
