Associated Case Studies
Chocolate Andrews was asked to provide cooling for a new production facility that produces luxury chocolates for mail order. The client was concerned the ambient temperature in the facility would melt the produce. Andrews supplied four 200kW fluid chiller units connected to 20 50kW internal air handling units via a complex system of pipe runs and manifolds, so ensuring the production area stayed below the required temperature.
Potatoes The main potato supplier to one of the UK’s biggest supermarket chains is regularly checked by the retailer to ensure it complies with the specifications set out. Chilling is necessary to keep the spuds at a specific temperature. From May to September, Andrews provided a 200kW portable chiller plus two 150kW air handling units. The potato producer was delighted with the service, and this will be an indefinite seasonal order. Beverages In the summer, a production line at Europe's biggest soft drinks production site experienced problems: a well-known drinks mixer was too warm and, when injected with gas, fizzed out of the bottles. The facility, operated by one of the world’s biggest beverage brands, was not temperature controlled but had to stay below 25°C. Based on our experience in beverages we recommended the right equipment and production was soon back to normal: a 100kW chiller, plus 100kW plate heat exchanger installed between the product holding tank and carbonation process. This reduced product temperature by 5°C and solved the problem.
