Sykes Pumps saves ecosystem of lake

Friday, February 3rd, 2012

One of the most renowned fishing lakes in Britain suffered with a number of fish and plant deaths recently as the algae in the lake began to decay and rot, inevitably resulting in an oxygen shortage within the lake.

Being the UK’s foremost pump supplier, Sykes Pumps were on site within a few hours, installing two 6” Venturi Aerators on each side of the lake. This proved effective as fewer fish were dying.

Mark Warner, Pump Sales Engineer, stated this solution “saved the fishery business and the customer was extremely grateful for our expertise”. Sykes Pumps has extensive experience in environmental industries and supply premium reliable equipment to cover every possible situation.

Sykes Pumps, the UK’s leading pump hire specialist, has launched a new guide that covers its large range of surface mounted, submersible, hydraulic and high performance range of pumps.  The new guide follows the tried and tested philosophy of having a pocket size book containing all of the technical date whilst retaining it’s easy to use format.  The layout has changed slightly with the pages being landscape rather than portrait which makes reading the technical data much easier.  The guide is laid out in a simple format which makes finding the pump you require easy through colour coding by type.

Bob Willoughby (Technical Director for Sykes Pumps) said “My role was to lead the team in developing the new pocket guide.  We listened to the customer feedback, as well as the comments from our own sales and depot teams.  This enabled us to ensure that the guide has the right amount of information and is easy to read and use.  Some of the major changes are; easy to use and read pump curves, inclusion of our expanding range of pumps, detailed fuel efficiency for our diesel range of pumps”.
