Chiller Breakdown

When a major cable TV and communications company suffered a chiller breakdown in a business-critical IT and communications room, temperatures soared to 32°C. Emergency help was needed fast, so its facilities provider called their Andrews contact at home – at 9.30pm. Andrews got three PAC22 portable air conditioning units with remote condensers in place within two hours and the temperature soon dropped to acceptable levels. Two weeks later, another chiller system went down at a similar location. Andrews got the call at 8.30am on Saturday morning, and was on site installing two PAC22s before 10am on the same day.

Canary Wharf

In the finance sector, IT and communications equipment is mission-critical, with cooling systems ensuring it operates within accepted temperature parameters. So what happens when air conditioning is shut down for maintenance? For a major bank at Canary Wharf, Andrews carried out a site survey then installed 29 PAC 22 portable air conditioners. Maintenance work was scheduled for the weekend, no problem for Andrews which offers a true 24/7 service. Six engineers worked into Friday night to ensure the units were ready, stayed on call throughout the shutdown and removed everything on Sunday night.

London Bank

Andrews Sykes were called to a bank in London as a result of a failure of their air conditioning. This job was classed as an emergency as banks must always have an appropriate level of air conditioning in their switch rooms and VPS rooms to manage the heat load created in these areas. Andrews Sykes arrived within four hours providing the bank with forty-five PAC22 units from their local depot. This meant the bank could continue to trade whilst the fixed air conditioning system was repaired.
